The Colorful and Contemporary Living Room.

Have you seen the latest event from Joss and Main advertising,
"The Modern Family. A Colorful and Contemporary Take on the Living Room."?
You may notice our Arizona living room was featured.
Although I didn't curate the event you will find lots of inspired things that echo our style.

Here are a few of the things I love:

So go there now and shop away!

...and many more, on channel four.

My hubs surprised me with lunch and a mid-day movie for my birthday.
It's been about three years since I last went to the movies.
He even went in with me to a thrift store while we killed time before the movie...what a guy!

I found this coffee table for $12.00 that tempted me.
Just a coat of paint and it would really pop.
I passed on it and am now kicking myself (like I always do) that I didn't take it.
Sort of reminds me of these tables I recently saw on I Suwannee.

Afterwards we finally saw Hunger Games.
I was just as traumatized as when I read the book.
Another year older and wiser?
Let's hope so.

A redemption project.

Today I had planned to reveal my diy kitchen back splash that I tiled.
I have been breaking my back to get it done for the past month.
The grouting step is where the project came to a screeching halt.
You would think the actual tiling to be the hard work but in my case the grouting was the project demise.

It actual looks half way decent here.  I had grout on the floor, walls, ceiling, cabinets and counters.
I put an S.O.S. call in to my fabulous tiler who did every other tile project in the house to come rescue me and finish the grout this week.
So the project reveal will have to wait.
Until then, I had to do some kind of project to redeem my bruised ego.

I love the Bekvam stool from IKEA.
It's perfect for little helpers.

A spray can coat of primer and paint makes for a quick and easy transformation
(although the instructions clearly do not recommend painting it...could make for a slippery surface).

Cupcakes have also been known to be really effective remedy for a bruised ego too.

Oh yeah, they did the trick.
