We just returned from a very posh wedding and jet-setted in San Diego over the weekend. My lower bunk bed with super hero sheets and a black cat walking on my face all night was super glam. I have a nice big welt on my forehead from smacking my head on my sleeping accomodations in the middle of the night. How could I have forgotten my camera to commemorate the event?
I may be the biggest tease ever...promising pictures of my newly madeover bedroom for weeks now and nothing. Here's my excuse. I entered the All The Best bedroom contest. The rules state that you can only enter unpublished photos. Not sure what that means but I didn't want to enter the photos after posting them on my site, just in case. Confused?
After I submitted my photos I went on their site and saw all the stunning bedrooms and am thinking I just might be out of my league. I'm also convinced that they should have catergories for things such as "Best Bedroom on a Budget" (me) or "Best Bedroom for a Limitless Budget" (many bedrooms I saw). Not so sure I can compete with a $10,000. budget. Have you seen some of those rooms? Good Gosh! Swoon! Check them out here, here and here. Contest winners announced this Friday so Friday I'll do my big reveal. Promise! You can (n't) count on it.
At any rate, here's some photos I didn't submit. I had been looking for some black and white photography for my room to no avail. Let me rephrase that. I found plenty of lovely photography NOT IN MY BUDGET. Even stock photos online that claim to be free still cost a pretty penny. I found this black and white 2010 calendar for $1.00 at Michaels. $1.00!
I found the photos I liked (June and September).
Then framed them up.

I bought the frames at Aaron Brothers. Tip: In January and July Aaron Bros. have their penny sale which is buy any frame get one for same or lesser value for a penny.

I always love the idea of taking calendar photos and using them for art, it's so inexpensive but looks so great!
i saw yours...gorg...its a tease but i can still see the style. what color grey is on the walls?
I just got off the Best Bedroom contest web and from what I saw you rank right up there with the best of them. I never would have known that what you did was on a tight budget. Your coordination of colors was beautiful and elegant. You are the one to go to when one is on a budget. Really! You did a fantastic job.
I LOVE that idea and have done it myself! SO pretty and you can't even tell they're calendar photos! Can't wait to see your bedroom photos! I'm sure they'll be stunning!
I already love it - my bedroom has grey walls too! Can't wait to see the rest! ~K
Weren't you looking at the aluminmum table from Z Gallerie? You can get 20% off right now. Found the code here...

I totally recognized the DIY sunburst mirror! Can't wait for the reveal and GOOD LUCK!
Thanks for the calendar tip! I went to Michael's yesterday and bought 7 different calendars for $1.00 each!
Thanks so much for sharing about this calendar! It's exactly what I've been looking for to do a gallery wall in my 1/2 bath. I haven't been able to find any nice black & white calendars for months (guess I started looking at the wrong time).
I got the calendar last night and will slice and hang the pix as soon as I get some time.
:-)
