"Swap till you drop."

While getting high off of oil fumes at Jiffy Lube the other day I was flipping through the January 2010 issue of Better Homes and Gardens and came accross this. (Yes, I tore these two pages out but the guy at the counter didn't seem to care).

It's called a Swap Party I think it's such a great idea. I can't tell you how many Tupperware-style parties I've been to where I feel obligated to purchase something to benefit the hostess who is trying to earn so many dollars of free product (o.k. guilty. I've been a hostess too).

At a Swap Party the concept is everyone brings a few "nice" items they don't use anymore to swap for other people's things that they don't use either. You spend no money and still leave with something(s) cool.

I'll take that green lamp, the gorgeous cake stand and the Anthropologie bowls please.

I've heard about these types of parties. They even do them w/ clothes and such. I've always thought it was such a great idea! Esp. since I have a garage full of home goods :o)

Thanks so much for posting this. I will be doing this with my church group. What a great idea, it would even be a fun birthday party. Have a blessed day.

I saw that too, passed it up...didn't give it another thought. Why is it so much cooler when someone else presents it to me?

Great idea, better a friend get use out of a discarded item than donating or having it in a garage sale. I think this is a wonderful idea in the economic climate we are in right now!!When are you having one??? Kathysue

Cool! My mom did this with her RS ladies -- it was a gym full of stuff!!! The rest of the items remaining got donated to the DI.

I am going to be attending a clothing swap in March. Very excited. It would have been more fun if furnishings were invovled as well.
