Kid's storage idea.

I can't tell you how many boxes of army men, blocks, marbles, Tinker Toys, Bakugan's are now stacked neatly in their closet.  Great for me, but I notice they tend to not play with toys when they are organized "mom style".  For a kid it's too big of a hassle to get things down out of the closet.

Well, my Land of Nod catalogue came the mail the other day.
I flipped the page to find the most brilliant idea.

They took a pile of these...

And did this...
Via Land of Nod.
Genius.

I love this idea, and we have about 1 million little cars in our house, unfortunately I just tested this on our Matchbox cars and all of them are plastic on the bottom, so this wouldn't work. But it's definitely a great idea for those who have metal bottomed cars.

That's brilliant. You're right.. my son doesn't play with things when they're all stacked up nicely and put away.

Oh my goodness, I love it! And I know my sons would too.

Genius! Now, if only I could get my son to let go of his cars for 5 minutes.... Thanks for sharing!

Wow! I only have two boys (2 years and 4 months) so they don't have quite as many cars as your boys do, but they're on their way! I love this idea for our play room.

Newest follower here. Awesome site. Congrats! I hope you do a version of the car mural and blog it for us. That is one of the neatest ideas for boys I've seen with the cars.
Just awesome.

Genius is right. But how to get the kids to put the cars back in perfect symmetrical, color-coded order? Sigh.

Pinteresters exploded with rage over this LoN ad. Everyone tried to do it but it seems that there was a lot of fail. =( Velcro comes off, magnets raise the cars off their wheels, etc. It is such a cool look. I'm hoping someone can post a successful tutorial. =D
