Spring yellows.

Spring is in the air (my sinuses are well aware).
Time for some spring yellow.

You'll remember I found this thrift store lamp for $5.00 along with this other lamp.

The shade is all wrong, I know. I'm having a hard time bringing myself to buy a new one. Lamp shades are expensive! I'm considering cutting this one down a few inches and adding ribbon to the top and bottom to hide any flaws.

I finally put this other thrift store lamp out for display as well.

Couldn't stop there.

I picked up these yellow pillow cases on clearance at Crate and Barrel last season!
Then on a recent browsing trip I noticed they are selling them again at full price.

I love the pops of yellow -- they look great with the white sofas and your gray walls.

And I think it may be worth trying to cut down the shade. Worst case scenario you have to get a new one.

I picked up some awesome lamp shades at Ross for $2.99 each.

I'm trying to figure out how the white stays white?, and yes I have some of those Martha Stewart barrel shades at 2.99 from Ross.

Yellow is such a fresh, fun color! Your living room immediately makes me envision lively family gatherings, fun with friends, or down time with the hubs. Such a restful (but so fun) retreat in your own home.

You know you can get cheap lampshades at Walmart? In Canada they run about $14. Also at HomeGoods they run at $12 Cd which should mean less in the US. I also buy new harps at Home Depot - that helps shorten the height of the shade to lamp. Sometimes buying a shorter harp helps.

Love the lamps you found. i actually bought the identical lamp base that you painted red for you guest room. They must of mass produced those! I am thinking of painting it blue for my entrance way where I have a blue and white asian stool and ginger jars.

Love your guest room!

I love the other lamp you put out! And the yellow pillows really add some excitement to the room.

Cheap drumshades (usually $3.99ea.) @ Ross! I bought my 2 from there.

What I love most about your design is that it can be completely changed at little cost. You can easily add to the yellow or replace it all together when you get tired of it and it won't require an entire room makeover!

I love yellow and I love your pops of yellow! I thought that I liked your room before, but now I really like it. FYI, I have that a pair of lamps in a smaller version of the lamp in your family room. I think they are cute!

Hi: I love it. But the very moment I saw the pics I realize that THAT is the lamp I´d been looking for (the one with cristals hanging from the cealing). I decided I wasn´t going to buy the real one so Ikea had one I could hack. But... while I was collecting cristals here and there, Ikea bosses decided to end the production of the lamp. Could it be possible? Yep, when I went to get my lamp (Two hours drive to the nearest Ikea store) what a flop!. So congratulations if you have the very real one and if it´s the Ikea hack: you´re so lucky as well.
