Pillow talk.

Doesn't everyone use linen napkins...
to cover old pillows?(Found these linen napkins for a song at Pottery Barn.
The striped pillow used to be a baby blanket I found at Target).

Thanks to my wonderful friend, photographer, and graphic designer Michelle Rasmussen for putting together our Christmas card this year. I sent them all out and still missed a lot of friends. Check her out at http://www.rhphotogallery.com/. (Michelle, you rock)!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree...

If I had my druthers, my Christmas tree would be totally monochromatic...white flocked, white lights, white tree skirt, and white matching ornaments with silver accent. But, that would mean no handmade red and green manger scene cut-outs with blue glitter all over baby Jesus' face that Tani made in primary and...I just couldn't bare that. Notice we have very few glass ornaments and the ones we do have are all above 42 inches (just out of a 15 month old's reach). I also finally figured out what to do with all the Christmas cards that come in the mail. Here's my tutorial on how to make retro-like, inexpensive snowflakes in...WHITE!
Take 7 or 10 pipe cleaners in the color of your choice.

Cut them in half.

Bundle all the p.c.'s in one hand. Take one of p.c.'s that you cut in half and wrap it around the center of the bundled p.c.'s .
Start pulling each p.c. one by one apart.
You've got yourself a handmade pipe cleaner snowflake.
It snowed in Tucson this year (on my tree)!

Look what arrived at my doorstep today!

I know what I'm doing this weekend!

Tis the season for the flu. Fa-la-la-la-la, La-la-la-la. Throw-up, fever, chills, clingy. That about sums up the last 2 days.

Decisions, decisions.

Remember this disaster (I mean learning experience)? I had a little discussion with our builder shortly after and come to find out the wall was never primed...I KNEW IT! So they kindly came back and scraped, mudded, primed and repainted the wall. Back to square one. I'm not going to attempt the same...ahem...masterpiece. Over it. I am, however, going to try my hand at wallpapering. I need help picking out a pattern. Which is your favorite out of these three?

Home-Teacher Hookup!

The crinkled, dusty, hand-written 3X5 notecard asking people to remove their shoes on my front door was just plain OOGLEY! So my home teacher (actually his wife) hooked me up with some vinyl lettering.
Sorry, if you come to my house I have a no shoes policy because I consider my home to be sacred ground. Just kidding. I'm just sick of cleaning up after dirty shoes...
I hope you don't think I'm uppity.

Sis B, I owe you big time! Thanks a million!

Gobble. Gobble.

6 hours of planning, shopping, baking, cooking, mess-making, shooing boys out of the kitchen...and for what?
...15 minutes of chowing! Grandpa John making his famous rolls.
Watching "Finding Nemo" while the Thanksgiving aromas fill the house.
Playing a game invented by dad involving tooth picks and a Spanish Coke bottle (found behind our fireplace wall when the drywall came off with the tile when we were re-doing it. Can't get rid of it. Love funny sentiments).
???
Love it when they actually play together instead of make each other cry.

I am positively grateful that I could spend a whole day with the
men in my life who have influenced me the most!

New benches.

Pull out the primer and Ultra White, High Gloss paint.Time to transorm these maple, cracked benches
into... Here they are. These pictures aren't the best but they are
sporting a new coat of white paint (and a little embelleshment).

These will sit at the desks in the den.
I'm pleased.

Tani's Soccer Game: November 15, 2008

(Matani is in the red shirt and long pants).

Forgive me but a mom has just gotta outright brag on her kid once in a while and Tani with his 11 goals deserves it! I know... "it's not if you win or loose but how you play the game..." yada, yada. But come on! 11 Goals! That's got to be some kind of S.Y.S., 4-year old division record! O.K. thanks for humoring me. Wait, just one more. GIVE ME A T-A-N-I! GO TANI! O.K. now I'm done.

$40.00/month addiction.

I'm planning on staging an intervention next Monday for FHE. I'm prepared for the yelling, accusations and denial that may take place. The truth is going to be ugly. My fellas are addicted...ADDICTED to yogurt! According to "Hinckley Home Policy Manual" only 1 yogurt per day per person is allowed. Serious abuse of this policy has been taking place. Yesterday I turned around and caught Tani devouring his third yogurt and it was only 10:00am. And don't think that Jake is all innocent either. I found his emty container in the garbage this morning which wasn't there last night before I went to bed. That makes TWO (count it 1-2) for him. Yes, words will be had on Monday night.

*Note: (I don't generally allow my kids to sit on the floor to eat. That would be heathonistic. I do however, fully endorse picking food up off the floor if it has been dropped to be eaten. Wouldn't want to be accused of being wasteful).

For my dearest boys...

(Heck ya, that's me using a power tool!)

Me like-ee the results.
My Dearest Boys...
I love you immensely that is no lie.
But this constant heap of jackets on the floor is not going to fly!
I know you are boys and mess is in your nature.
But be aware that picking up 24/7 is not in my future.
Here are some hooks...they are for your jackets,
If you don't start using them I might do something drastic!
Love,
Mom
