One fine summer day...in February.

Today was one of those fabulous summer days. Ahhhh...80 degrees, slight breeze from the south, sun-kissed cheeks. Perfect for playing outside and...

snuggling up with someone you love (most of the time)...

playing chase...

rolling around in the grass...

And just doing "boy" things!

Tucson is winter's paradise!

Sick day.

We're a family that shares everything. We share our meals when we go out to eat. I share my library card with my boys when books need to be checked out. My boys share their toys without any squabbles.

When Matani got sick, naturally I thought, "I've got to get me some of that!" So share he did. I'm so glad to now know what the pounding headache, achy body, and green gunk coming out my lungs feels like. I've permanently stuffed tissue up my nose to stop it from running. Which, by the way, I think there might be a market for. I'd call my invention "Snot Plugs." (If some guy name Boudreuax can sell "Butt Paste" I'm sure I can sell "Snot Plugs.")

As Matriarch of this household I believe it my duty to make sure everyone gets their fair share of the bounty. Since we've all had or currently have the "cold of century" except Jake I thought he shouldn't miss out on the fun. Before I serve him water I lick the rim of the glass. I also try really hard not to cover my mouth when I cough. Oh, and when he walks by I grab him and give him a good PG-13 kiss. He should be feeling the sinus pressure in no time.

A family that cares...shares!

Add a little bling to your blog.

Erin, my very talented sister-in-law is the creator of my banner and designer behind "Designer Blogs." She also did the button for my business, "Busy Work, LLC." She can do just about anything, including working with hard to please customers (guilty)!

Ottoman Completed (sort of)!

D.I.Y. Projects never seem to go as smoothly in reality as they do in my head.
Check out my hunky carpenter!

I managed to break an industrial strength drill bit.
Jake shot me some stink eye for that.
I also drilled all the holes with the drill in reverse.
I kept wondering why there was smoke coming out of the wood.

Confession...My carpenter and I did all the work except cover it. My sewing machine is kinda wimpy when it comes to any material thicker than pantyhose.

What do you think of the leather? It's actually vinyl...CHA-CHING!
With a little help from Chavez Upholstery, TA-DA! I'm happy with the results.

(OK, I know the toothpick legs look tacky. I grabbed the first thing I saw at Home Depot. They are all wrong. The new legs are in the mail via the internet).

Baby Bliss.

Last night I had the pleasure of hosting a baby shower for the lovely "M". What is it about a baby shower that brings out the giddiness in women? Is it too many chocolate dipped strawberries or gawking at teency weency pastel clothes? I dunno, but we sure had fun!

Would you believe that I managed to take only ONE photo before the doorbell rang yet again and I forgot about my camera for the rest of the evening? Dang!

Matani's web.

In high school science class we studied the web spinning patterns of spiders. We would first observe pictures of webs of normal, healthy spiders. We would then look at pictures of webs from spiders who had been exposed to drugs and...let's just say...those webs were a wacked out mess!
Tani is on the mend after a run with Sinusitus and asthma. Thanks to some Penicillin and Prednisone he's doing much better. Here is what he laid out tonight after I tucked him in. Notice he still picked out an outfit but it isn't laid out all thoughtful and pretty like he normally likes to do. Case in point, the spider on drugs.

The Karate Kid.

The Karate Kid has become one of our favorite Friday night movies.
Daniel-son has inspired Matani's new hobby. He calls it Karate,
I call it the mini G.I. Joes.

Mr. Kim demands respect.
"YES SIR!"
"THANK YOU SIR!"
"ONE, SIR, TWO SIR, THREE SIR..."
Someone else has taken up Karate in our house...(unofficially).

BYU Living Legends.

Last night I went on a date with my favorite 4 year old!
The BYU Living Legends came to Tucson and we were there.
Tani wore his "GQ outfit" and spiked his hair. We were two hotties on the town!
My date was wide-eyed as we were entertained by some spectacular
Polynesian, Native American, and Latin dancing.

We had the priviledge of hosting beautiful "T" from AZ and "M" from Mexico in our home for the night. We ate McDonalds at 11pm and they told us of their exciting life on the road as ambassadors to the LDS church and performers of their culture.
We were sad to see our new friends go the next morning as we took them back to their bus.
("T" and "M" we'll work on getting the video of Tani doing the haka uploaded for you soon! Thanks for gracing us with your presence.)

A few den accesories...

I've picked up a few accesories for the den that I'm super excited about.
I found this old chandelier at an antique shop called "Marche Noir".
I got a superb deal on it (which makes me even more fond of it).
A little black spray paint and Ooohhhh la la!
(Props to my wonderful hubby who re-wired it, hung it, and made it light up! Props to myself for not dropping it, while standing on a stool, holding it straight above my head, arms shaking, and beads of sweat running in my eyes.)

I also found these vintage locker baskets at another antique shop here in Tucson called, "The Paris Flea Market." Old wire baskets are my thing (and purses too).

I've always admired apothocary jars and finally bought myself a couple. Man, these things are expensive! Luckily I finally used the gift card that my dad gave me to Pier 1 over a year ago. Thanks dad!

More Pier 1...gotta love it!

Free Valentine's Day Cards.

Do these just scream cool or what? Jenn over at Ambrosia Girl designed these and is offering the free download on her blog. The perfect little notecard to spruce up any Valentine's day gift. Thanks Jenn!

I've been a bad blogger. Been extra swamped with life. No posts at all last week...sorry!

Had to share this cute moment since so many people seem to comment to me about it. As you know, Matani is my little fashion accesorizer. It's a little after 7pm and I just put Matani down for the night (yes I put my boys down at 7)! Jake was walking by M's room and poked his head in to check on him. Jake then came in to me and said, "I just saw Tani laying on floor with his arms stretched out on top of his clothes to check and see if they were properly aligned." There you have it folks...not only is he a fashion guru but a perfectionist too.
