Ice cream, you scream!

Last week, Air and Water, Inc. approached us about doing a review on their NewAir Icecream Maker.
Wild, because I just tried to find an ice cream maker last week but couldn't find one because they're considered a "seasonal" item.

So, here we go...

Instructions say to just add the ingredients, hit a button and in under an hour you get 1.5 quarts of ice cream.
We'll see.

These boys sat here for literally the full hour asking, "is it done yet?"

Then viewing space was encroached...cue the sibling rivalry.

Saved by the beep.

This baby gets a thumb's up!
I couldn't believe how easy it was.  I can remember my mom got an ice cream machine years ago that involved a lot of turning of a crank, ice and salt(?) that we used ONCE.  This thing is like the crock pot of ice cream.  Add the ingredients, hit a button and in under hour you have ice cream, frozen yogurt or sorbet.  We made ice cream last night and again this morning (shhh! Don't tell Jenny).

I'm thinking the NewAir Ice Cream Maker is the perfect gift for that person who has everything.
From now until Dec. 31, 2011 you can get a $25.00 discount by entering the code 4MEN1LADY!

Getting white right.

I threw down $50.00 + on 6 different paint samples at Benjamin Moore.

I cannot tell a lick of difference between any of them.
I swear the guy may have forgotten to add any tint (that or I'm color blind).

I need three different whites.
One for cabinets, one for walls and one for trim.
Three colors that blend to make modern but not stark and cold.
Suggestions, PLEASE.

Alice Supply Co.

I've long admired Alice Supply Co.'s fun and preppy household items.
(Seriously, I've always wanted my own toolbox that my 4 men aren't allowed to get in to).
The great news is that Zulily has them for 50% off for the next four days only!
SA-WEET!

Prepared?

Do you ever wonder what you'd do in case of an emergency?
Sure, I'd classify the grocery store running out of Ben and Jerry's an emergency
but I'm talking a real DOOZIE of an emergency! No electricity, no food, contaminated water?
This thought keeps me up at night.
How would I keep my family alive?

Let me introduce Can Organizer, our newest sponsor.
They have made it possible for people to be prepared in case of an emergency.  Not only do they have Emergency Survival Kits and Food Storage but they also sell these nifty organizers that also rotate your cans.
The 11" deep Cupboard Organizer is perfect for smaller spaces like your cupboard where you need to maximize space. This is ideal where a pantry or extra storage may not be available. You can simply use one Organizer or many depending on your needs.

The 16" deep Shelf Organizer is deeper so you can store even more cans! Designed to fit nicely on your standard shelf so it is perfect for storage areas like your garage or storage room.

And finally the 22.5" deep Pantry Organizer is the deepest of the bunch. This system is optimal for those deep pantries or storage racks where you have plenty of space. You will be amazed how many you can fit in the Organizer and well organized your food storage will be. Now you can hit those canned good sales and stock up for your family, saving money and having food on hand for whenever you need it.
Of course if your cupboards are crammed with different odds and ends and you don't have space to fit several organizers in a row, customize what you need for the space that you have.

Sound the alarm.

Last week I accompanied my son and his preschool class on a field trip.
We visited this house which was pretty impressive.
I mean, the kitchen alone...

I wasn't expecting the vaulted ceilings, high end appliances and million dollar mountain views.
Hints: It houses mostly men who are pretty smokin' hot (literally and figuratively).
Guesses?
Here's another hint.
This will give it away...

Pretty cool pad.  The fire trucks were neat-o too.

barstool transformation.

Once in while I come across a really daring and original DIY project and this one is no exception.
This project by Amy landed in my inbox yesterday and it's worthy of a shout-out.
It started out with these white leather barstools from Overstock.

Amy used some paint (especially made for leather) and a stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils.
GUTSY!

I would have never thunk-it but it worked!
  What a result!
For more details go to Amy's blog here.

homesick for the desert.

Yesterday.

This strange white, cold stuff was falling from the sky.
Yep, we're definitely not in Tucson anymore.

Field trip.

5 minutes from our house are the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
I don't think we're in Tucson anymore, Toto.
The wildlife, the colors, the cool temps.!

There's nothing better than spending time with family (and Ben & Jerry).

Add another hiking stick to the collection.
  Oh, Utah.
I think you're growing on me.
