What to do with large bare walls.

One of the age old questions in design is what to do with a large bare wall. Custom art can be expensive and then what do you do when you tire of it?

Michelle Rasmussen of Wondertime Photo (and our newest sponsor) has come of with a perfect solution for her clients. She does custom photography pieces that add personality to bare walls. When she suggested three large canvases for my living room I thought it might be overbearing but I trusted her suggestion and am so glad I did. Not only do they look great but I think my boys feel a sense of importance as well.

Check out some of Michelle's other work in her client's homes.

Michelle has been our family photographer since the birth of my first son. Not only does she know how to make someone feel comfortable in front of the camera but has the eye to catch the essesence of her clients. For a truly personal and professional experience, she's your woman!

Black cloud hangeth over me.

I'm tired.
And nauseous,very nauseous.
I can't force one more soda cracker upon myself.
I just can't.
But I will.
The smell of my tiny silver stud earrings is making me sick.
6 months, no more earrings.
Incubating a baby human is more work than I remember.

This man has been my hero.
Today he got ready for work then stayed home for an extra hour and played legos with N. while I worshiped the porcelain throne.
My knight with the shiny white collar.

Above All Fabric Sponsor Feature & Giveaway.

Before becoming a mother I used to dream that I would have the cutest little girls who always had bows in their hair and I would make the cutest little clothes for them. Little did I know boys were in my future who would only want to wear Spider Man t-shirts everyday of the week. Oh well, I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Three Men and a Lady would like to introduce Melanie of of Above All Fabric. I have a secret career crush on her. Can you imagine how inspiring it would be to work with all those beautiful fabrics all day long?! She has the the most unique inventory of patterns, fabrics, ribbons, notions, etc.
Born in the beautiful country of Wyoming she started sewing at a young age. She pursued a career as a dietitian which she discovered didn't suite her. When she married and moved in to her own home she started doing sewing projects for things around the house. That later developed in to selling her crafts to other people. Which again turned in to selling fabrics so people could create their own projects. Thus was born, Above All Fabric.

Check out just a fraction of some of the patterns and fabrics she sells.

Just a sampling of my favorites:

My love for Craigslist...

One of my daily tasks consists of spending 5 minutes searching Craigslist. I have four consistant searches that I do. "Vintage, Antique, French and Midcentury."
Most of the time I don't find anything too exciting.
Sometimes I do but the price isn't right.
And sometimes the clouds part and I find a few little gems.
Here are a few of my latest finds.

I bought these two cubes off this young who couple who live in the cutest little downtown bungalow and have loads of style. They are those types of people who find garbage sitting on the side of the road which turn out to be vintage pieces worth hundreds. Yes, you know their kind. Four leaf clovers growing outta their heads.

They are currently sitting at the foot of my bed where we as a family sit and play my vintage, original Nintendo. They would also make a good coffee or end tables. I've been looking for couple of white marble pieces (like below) for them but I'm not having much luck.

This past week I spotted this great little side table again on CL. Unknowlingly, same darn cute couple found it and were selling it (4 leaf clovers I tell you). (Dom and Chel, can I come hang with you?)

I'm currently stalking these tulip pedestal vintage bases:

I only want one base but the $150.00 asking price seems too high.
On the other hand when the real thing is upwards of $1000.+ maybe this is a good deal?

Still deliberating.

Milestones.

This little man has been begging to have his training wheels taken off for months now.
Daddy promised that when he turned 3 he would honor his wish.

The day finally came.

A whole 23 seconds solo on his first try!

He's got himself a new hobby.

Winner...

Wouldn't you know it. My computer froze up on me just as I was trying to copy and paste the Random.org results. So instead I had to take a picture of winning number which is...
#8, "Shannon @ What's Up Whimsy".
By the way, I went and checked her out and she's got a pretty cute little blog, if I do say so myself. See here.

Congratulations Shannon winning the House 09 Giveaway!

House 09 Giveaway.

Three Men & a Lady is pleased to introduce the very hip and stylish graphic design team of House 09. They offer a menu of services which include calling / business cards, stationary, logo identity and website / blog design, just to name a few.

Check out my new calling card they whipped up especially for me.

It's not the typical look or shape for general calling cards that I'm used to seeing. I love when designers think outside the box and challenge what is viewed as "typical".
From now until Wednesday, September 15th at midnight House 09 will be giving away 100 custom calling cards, design, printed and delivered! To enter you must be a follower of their blog then leave a comment on this post. For an extra entry, become a House 09 Facebook fan. For another additional entry, Tweet, Facebook or blog about this giveaway.

Good luck!
