Pickers Sisters.

Have you seen that new tv show on the Lifetime channel called

?

I'm obsessed with it!
You may remember designers Tanya and Tracy from Extreme Home Makeover.
These gals roam the country looking for junk to take back to their store in L.A.
where their contractor Alan transforms their vision in to really cool pieces.
(I'm thinking I need to get myself an Alan).
This trio team has serious creative vision.

Those chairs were transformed from a tire fender of a truck.
The lights in the back used to be a pesticide sprayer off a tractor.
Swinging chair was made from an old grain silo.
My fav is this chandelier made from an old rusty ring and twine.
  Chair arms are two radiators.

If you don't have cable you can go here to watch the show.

Caught on camera.

You know you're a seasoned mother of boys when your first thought isn't...
1. "WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING?"
-or-
2. "WHAT WILL THE NEIGHBORS THINK?"
but rather...
"At least he put the seat up."

Those eyes...

I'll do anything for those big blue eyes.

Mirror no more.

Today I guest posted on Yellow Brick Home
about my love for vintage frames and mirrors.

My most recent project started with this vintage mirror.

I used some chalkboard spray paint, a little Frog Tape...

this burlap sack from my pantry...
 to create this message board.
We can now write messages on the chalk board and pin
notes to the burlap covered cork board up top.

School days, school days...

Today was this guy's first day of school.

  Lots of excitement.
Lots of nervousness.
Lots of butterflies.
A few tears.
And that's just how I felt.

I can't sleep...

and not because I have a baby that wakes up every 3 hours.
No, it's the house decisions, Decisions, DECISIONS!
While there are serious problems in the world I'm stressing over chrome or nickel?
White or gray? Marble or granite?
Latest decision on the table: cabinets. To inset or not? While inset cabinets look custom and just plain gorgeous, you loose a slight bit of space (not a huge deal).

The other cabinet option is this:

Oh, what do you call this?

When the cabinets all butt up to each other and fit together nicely?
They don't lay flush to the cabinet but on top of the cabinet.

Marble look-alikes.

I L-O-V-E the look of marble countertops...

However, they've been known for being fussy (easily stain, etch, chip).
Could there be something similar without the high maintenance aspect?
My search led me to various types of white granite quartzites which are often mistaken for marble.
Check them out.

Demolition.

Demolition is under way. Here's the plan...

We knocked three walls down.

I always say that projects cost more and take longer than you anticipate.  Here's why...we hadn't planned on raising the ceiling height.  However, once we knocked down the walls it started to look claustrophobic and boxy.  So down came the ceilings.
Cha-ching.

H&M for the home.

Have you ever been to HandM?
They are known for having great fashions for very little money.
But did you know they also have an entire department for the home?
Sadly, the U.K. only carries fashions for the home.
Boo.
Check it.

HandM, when are you gonna bring your home fashions to the U.S.?

It's happening,

it's finally happening!
