I probably read 1% of the email forwards I receive (sorry mom).
But, once in a while I get something worth a click.

Happy Monday.

Welcome Olive Bungalow + Giveaway.

I'll admit, since becoming a parent, getting all gussied up just to go to the grocery store is low on my priority list. Jeans and a t-shirt have become my occupational uniform. However, throwing on a beautiful piece of jewelry takes my outfit to next level and just makes me feel a little more pretty.

Michele, the creator behind Olive Bungalow, has been a full-time jeweler since 2002, offering hand-crafted artisan jewelry and custom stack rings using quality gemstones, sterling silver and gold. She uses only eco-friendly, recycled and reclaimed sterling silver and gold, and natural and genuine fair trade gemstones.

Check out some of my favorites...

One lucky winner will get this Citrine Starburst ring from Olive Bungalow valued at $59.!

She also offers a “customize it!” page on her site where you can go and create your own gemstone stack rings and also birthstone pendants. Check out her amazing metalwork on her beautiful earrings and necklaces.

To win, head on over to Olive Bungalow then come back and leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite piece. Michele will also be offering 15% off from now until Friday, 12/3/10 (use coupon code "special 15").

Giveaway ends Friday, December 3rd at midnight. Please leave your email address.

Congratulations #10, Yuppie Lady, winner of the Winterberry Cottage gift certificate!

Friday night, 7:00pm, 65 degrees...time for movie night in the backyard.

5 friends + lots of popcorn + lots of blankets = party time.

A trip to the Redbox resulted in rental of some weird movie about gerbals saving the world projected on the side of the house. No matter, boys were glued to the flick.

Intermission included hot chocolate and marshmellows round the table.
(Not to mention a fabulous rendition of the ABC's burped in harmony).

Boys will be boys.

Ready for a change.

I always find it interesting when people spend a lot of money furnishing their homes with the idea that they'll keep it that way for decades. Often times they won't wear the same outfit for more than a season yet their decor stands unchanged.

One of the reasons I like to shop second hand do DIY projects is because I quickly tire of things. When I don't spend a fortune on pieces I can afford to put it on Craigslist and start over.

I'm about done with the set up of my entertainment nook. I've had the two IKEA stands that my tv sits on for almost 10 years now and have painted, re-arranged and re-painted them all I care to.

Here's what I'm day dreaming of...

I love these two Mid-Century Credenzas found on Ebay. Priced at a minimum of $800.00 it's a bit more than I'm ready to spend. I've been scouring Craigslist for months now and I can't seem to find one that is wide enough. I love the clean, modern lines...timeless design. But will I tire of it down the road?

Another option is something more affordable or even homemade. I'm sure what's ever under that beautiful fabric could be ugly but highly functional.
Still contemplating.

Welcome new sponsor and a giveaway!

Three Men and a Lady would like to welcome Winterberry Cottage as our newest sponsor! Owner AmyLynn upcycles pages from vintage books by printing very unique images on them and calls them Vintage Book Page Prints. I'm envisioning several of these in a collage to create a very creative gallery wall.

AmyLynn is giving away a $25.00 gift certificate to be used in her Etsy store, Winterberry Cottage. To enter:

1. Go to her store here and look around.
2. Leave a comment on this post as to what prints are your favorites.
3. For an extra entry, Tweet, Facebook and/or blog about this giveaway.
(Giveaway will close on Wednesday, 11/24/10 at midnight. Winner chosen by Random.org).

Extra, extra! For all 3 Men and a Lady readers, from now until Dec. 2nd, purchase 3 prints and get your 4th free! (Just write in the "notes to seller" space which print you would like for free when ordering).

Good luck!

Catch and Release.

Another snake came to visit us in our backyard.
Although it wasn't a Rattler this time it still wasn't welcome.

A little while in a jar provided a lot of entertainment.

Then we let him go in the desert, FAR away from our house.

In other news, we had a little mishap with the polyurethane on our Craigslist table.
Back to the garage it goes for some sanding, staining and 5 coats of Poly.
Hoping it's ready for Thanksgiving.

Westwood College.

When I graduated from High School there was no question that college was my next step (from direction of my parents). Picking a major was daunting. I was supposed to make a decision about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life and at 18 years old I had no clue. So I chose Communications, a degree I could use in practically any field and I'm glad I did. However, if I knew then what I know now I probably would have picked interior design.

Westwood College now offers degrees in Interior Design (amongst other things). They have 17 locations in 6 states plus a huge offering of online programs. You can earn your Bachelor's degree by working from home.

Check out their website here.

Stripes...Yay or Nay?

I have to admit I'm kind of over the whole striped wall trend. It seems like everyone (including me) has a striped wall. Yes, they are striking but they are EVERYWHERE which is wearing on their uniqueness. Despite my rant I have not been able to get these striped wing back chairs off my mind. I may be over striped walls but stripes on furniture...ooooo la la!

Can anyone name the source of that thick black and white stripe fabric?

Did I mention my other peeve is seeing design pics copied and pasted from one blog to another?
Sorry, this may be the 4th time you've seen these pics on other blogs.

Back to our regularly scheduled program.

Round one of the Good Mood Blogging Gig is over and guess who didn't make it?
Thank goodness. Now I can go back to my usual bad mood.
Kidding.
In my own defense I keep telling myself I started a week behind the competition in accumulating votes so I was at a disadvantage to begin with.
That's the story I'm sticking to anyway.
Thank you everyone for faithfully voting for me and allowing me to obnoxiously plaster my blog and Facebook account with requests for votes. You can bet I'll be applying again next year and I won't be a week behind.

In the meantime, I've taken to my sewing machine and am working on a little project.

Stay tuned.

And if you're not tired of seeing my face plastered all over my blog yet...here I am again. Reminding you to please vote. Wednesday is the last day to vote so we're in the home stretch.
I'm just 6 places away from making it to the final!
