Another snake came to visit us in our backyard.
Although it wasn't a Rattler this time it still wasn't welcome.

A little while in a jar provided a lot of entertainment.
Then we let him go in the desert, FAR away from our house.
In other news, we had a little mishap with the polyurethane on our Craigslist table.
Back to the garage it goes for some sanding, staining and 5 coats of Poly.
Hoping it's ready for Thanksgiving.

What happened with the poly? If the issue is the poly isn't sticking correctly. You're going to have to re-sand the table again. Nice table!
At least you didn't have a poly problem with 3000 sq. ft. of living space. Talk about a nightmare.I don't even want to think of the work that went into it or even blogging about that. Whew!
OK, I love that the first three commenters didn't even MENTION the snake. They are all about the POLY.

I have to say, that snake has some gorgeous skin! And it was awfully kind of you to transplant it to another location instead of hacking it to bits with a shovel.
Oh my kids would have loved that fella! Me not so much!

eek abt the snake. we had a skunk a few weeks back. not the same, I know... =(
Oh, I see a lot of sanding and poly'ing in my future. Maybe i could just drop my stuff off and pick it up a week from Friday? would that work?! :P

Tose out some mothballs or sulphur from the feedstore to ward off the snakes. I learned that from my grandfather who lived out in the country.

Ugh, we have pack rat and javelina problems where I live so a snake is kind of nice to see haha

We've been dealing with lots of snakes recently too! Al kinds of them seem to basking on our neighborhood streets, I guess seeking some warmth.

It's November! I've been letting my boys wander through the desert behind the house because I thought the snakes were down under for the winter...no? Darn! Well, at least it wasn't a rattler...that's my biggest fear around mothering in the desert... :)

And I would freak out if I saw that in my yard. You're very kind. lol I guess I'd rather complain about cold weather than snakes. ;)

moth ball granules (or just regular moth balls, but...ew)
sprinkle them around the perimeter of your yard. You'll smell them for the first day (gross), but then they'll "air out" and you won't smell them anymore (espeically if you do the granules, I"ve heard) Keeps the snakes away. Good luck!
