Pinterest.

Am I the only one who just found out about Pinterest?
"Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard and lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web." See something you like while surfing the internet? Pinterest allows you to pin it to your board and it automatically logs which site you got it from.

I have been spending way too much time surfing this site.

.

Something exciting happened yesterday...
(aside from taking three little men to the doctor).

I'll share with you in September.

Name this blog.

Due to the arrival of this sweet baby boy, our blog name, "Three Men and a Lady" no longer applies.

(Photo by: Wondertime Photography. More pics here).

So now it's time to re-name this blog.
Don't worry, I'm not "planning" on having any more kids so I won't have re-name it again.

Ideas, opinions, suggestions please.
Help me come up with a new name for this blog. Then I'll post my favs and we'll take a vote.

Thanks Nate.

A few people said they saw me on the Nate Berkus show today.

Thanks Nate for picking my segment to air on your "Best of Nate's 'House Prouds.'"

Birthday loot.

Turning another year older wasn't so bad this year. I had a lot of celebration to distract me from aging.

Including being Queen for the day and...

party decor (which had to be promptly cleaned up 30 minutes later due to a Realtor bringing some clients by) and...

a gourmet breakfast made by my husband. My men even cleaned up the kitchen afterward!

Then lookie what else found a new place in my garage. Remember I blogged about these 7 weeks ago here? I couldn't buy them because I delivered a baby 10 hours after I posted about them.

Incidentally, a friend emailed and said if I didn't want them she was going to purchase them. I never got the email because I was at the hospital but I always regretted not sending my husband to check them out for me (he would have loved that chore). Anyway, she emailed me on my birthday and asked if I wanted them. HOLY COW what a score for me!

With the b-day money my parents gave me I picked up this vintage lawyer's bookcase I spotted on Craigslist. Each cabinet comes apart. I was envisioning separating them, tilting them on their side, and using a couple as possible kitchen cabinets or bathroom storage for an unexpected addition.

The guy who was selling the bookcases had me come to his shop which was a window tinting business. I noticed he had a few other really cool furniture pieces lying around. When I asked if the other stuff was for sale he said, "sure" and proceeded to show me three other rooms brimming with treasures. He told me he and his sons go around and buy out estate sales. I would have taken a picture with my new camera (thanks again, dad) but it was charging back at home. Dang. I thought I died and went to heaven.

I loved this vintage nut machine which I lugged home and...

this pay phone. I thought this would be a quirky addition to my new house. Notice there's no place to insert coins? Also, you can only call out, no in-coming phone calls. Any guesses where it came from?

That's right, a prison.

Today I viewed a taped episode of Oprah on the Nate Berkus show. They were touring her tea house which sits in her garden. She was saying how she considers her tea house to be a sacred space where she allows no work, no phone calls, nothing that would bring bad energy in to the tea house. She even went as far to say that Maya Angelou had said that words are like things and are tangible and attach to the walls. Oprah agreed that you wouldn't want bad energy attaching to your pillows so she only invites warm, welcoming energy in the space.

If that is true then there is a lot of angry, tangible energy that is attached to that phone.
Hokey?
Maybe.
But, I'm not going to argue with Oprah.
I wonder if Lysol can sanitize bad energy?
If not you may see that phone back on Craigslist.

It's my birthday!

Besides world peace, no more world hunger and bringing back the Oprah show...
here's some less important things on my birthday list this year.

I've always wanted a more stylish way to address my letters. I'm loving the Etsy Store FORYOO which makes the most beutiful personalized rubber stamps

No brainer...who wouldn't want an Apple Ipad?

How cool are these bus scroll pillows from Buppo and Wren?

Favorite home decor magazine hands down. Wish is wasn't so expensive for U.S. residents. Let me know if you need my mailing address. You can order it here.

These are my newest obsession. I don't currently have a collection of anything but I just decided that I should and I'm starting with cake stands. Found this one on Ebay.

I have admired this Omni, Z Gallerie Mirror for ages. I have the perfect place for it in my new home.

(Image found here).

I can't tell you how long I've wanted a sunken trampoline in my backyard. Heck no, I won't be jumping on it. But think of all hours of quiet time I'd have in my house if this was in my backyard for my boys!

Monograming is my other current obsession. How beautiful are these monogramed pillows from Luxury Monograms?

Drool, Swoon, Heart, whatever! I want this kitchen in my new home. Any countertop dealer out there want to Sponsor some Calcutta marble counters in my new home in exchange for advertising on my blog? I will blog the heck out of them!

I scream, you scream...

I want to own an ice cream truck.

This is so not the ice cream man I grew up remembering. In my day the ice cream man drove a converted mail truck with a flat tire and had a couple of missing teeth.

This could very well be the perfect job.
Everyone always elated to see you,
cruisin' the streets, wind in your hair, sweet treats to deliver in a sweet ride.
Bee-boppin' tunes blastin' (okay that might be annoying after 3 minutes).

How adorable is that ice cream kid in his white uniform (not to mention my two kiddos)?

3rd time's a charm thanks to Natty by Design.

Remember this Craigslist table? It's had quite a bit of face time on my blog. To make a long story short, my husband and I spent countless hours on it trying to work our limited, DIY magic.

Here is what it looked like after we had a go at it. It just had a rough, unfinished look to it. It ended up in much better condition than the before pictures but really not acceptable either.

After two failed attempts, Natalie from Natty By Design stepped in. She is also our newest sponsor and as a part of her sponsorship she proposed letting her work on it to see what she could do.

In a nutshell she sanded it, experimented with several different stains, then applied polyurethane. At my request she also lightened it up quite a bit. I cringe to think of all the hand sanding she did, especially on those legs. After she delivered it my husband and I stood there in awe, jaws on the floor, shocked at what a magnificent job she did. It looks like it came right off the Pottery Barn show room floor. And I don't lie! (Well sometimes I do but I'm not now)!

The end result is a rich finished look. A huge difference in comparison to the end result we produced.

Sometimes you just have to know when you're in over your head and call a professional to begin with. You want a job done right, Natalie is your gal. I call her the "Furniture Whisperer". Paint or stain she does it all. Thank you Natalie for all your hard work, dealing with my wishy-washy ideas, and being such a professional. We love our table!
