Oreck sent me their new Magnesium Vacuum Cleaner to review a few weeks ago.
I vowed to be completely honest and no sugar-coating.
Let's just say my little apartment has never been cleaner.
First of all it is so LIGHT! My old vacuum was so big and bulky (and I've got the biceps to prove it).
The Magnesium is light enough that I can now put my boys to work with zero guilt of child labor.
It really is so easy to manage I actually use it more often.
It sucks up every last crumb on carpet...
...and does equally as well on hard surfaces. I should know too...I despise using a broom and dustpan. In fact, I've had three vacs in the past that claim to vacuum hard surfaces and none have worked well. The problem is they blow the mess all over the floor when the vac gets close but the Magnesium vacuums without making a tornado mess!
It even worked on my jute rug.
This is my old vac filter which had to be cleaned after each use.
I actually had a rock outside that I designated as my "filter banging rock".
The Magnesium uses bags that you simply throw away when they're full. Simple.
The Magnesium also comes with this hand-held vacuum to clean hard to reach nooks and crannies.

It is the lightest upright vacuum of all vacuums. The 20 ft cord is heavenly too!
The vacuum bags seal shut so no dust and dirt can escape! Very cool - I am in DESPERATE need of a new vacuum cleaner with two cats and a baby in my house!

I am loving that it has a hepa filter after all! For people with allergies like me, I cannot begin to tell you how much I despise carpet and the hidden dusty terrors.

The extra long cord is something that really attracts me to this vacuum! I hate having to stop, unplug the vacuum, find another plug and start vacuuming again. Another plus is the easy transition between carpet and hard floors!

Nothing new here but it took me awhile to re-set my google password so I could even leave a comment. :). 7 year limited warranty with 3 annual tune-ups.
I was excited to learn about all the special features...for example, the dusting brush and the 20 foot power chord! I hate when vacuums have short chords and they rip out of the wall on you!

I love that it is gentle on Persian rugs. My current vacuum eats up our rug and when I empty the canister I feel like I'm throwing our rug away with each vacuum job.

I love the 'Quickswitch' feature on the handle (!) I read about that lets you go from hardwood to rug. So convenient!
I have a 15-year-old Oreck and it's handheld companion. Over the years, I've purchased a couple of other vacuums, intrigued by nifty attachments and claims that these were super vacuums that would somehow be better than the Oreck.
